Chanel Fall 2012

Shouldn't the counters always wrap your purchases like this?
The Beast and I went up to Countryside and  R. was not there so I instead got to play with P.
I hate when there are two people at a counter and you like both...who to chose and really how do people cheat?
So I had my list of desire and as usual went completely off course.
Intially I wanted the Premier Regard quad but after reading so many disparaging comments I changed my mind only to change it back after P. used it on my eyes. Smooth and pigmented and classically Chanel.
I was so on board with the Rose Initiale blush but it just did not show up on me. Pink Explosion however is perfect.
I thought for sure I was going to get Caractere lipstick and Troublant lipgloss however both gave me the dreaded liver lips. La Raffinee Rouge Allure Velvet completed my look and I was pleased.
I really thought I wanted/needed the lovely highlighter powder but truly when the sparkling over spray is gone it loses it's appeal. Same goes for the silver eyeliner not so special in real life,
Finally I fell completely in love with Lift Lumiere concealer so lovely and so easy to use. I can't believe I have  tossed my beloved Thierry Mugler Bleu Glacis into the Box o' Toss but I have indeed.

Oh and P. showed me the Holiday pamphlets the gift sets were ok BUT the Holiday Collection is so lovely from the image on the cover to the gloriously lovely quad to everything in between it is a rosy golden dream.

Summer Spree 2012

Bought a few weeks back...

It was so exciting to see the Heavenly Creature collection launch so early and I knew I needed the Magnetic Attraction shadow.
I picked up the Sable-Emouvant duo at Chanel as it was the only item that truly struck my fancy.
I bought the Teddy khol from MAC because I did not want spend the money on the Brun Intense eyeliner from Chanel and I am quite pleased.
Finally I walked into the Bare Escentuals boutique and fell in love with the 11am eyeliner it is just a perfect green/grey bit of color around the eyes when wearing a bright summer lip.

Permission to Come Aboard....

I just adore MAC's summer collections.

Love the Hey Sailor packaging.
Love the Emerald Sea eyeliner such a refreshing change from the typical dark green liner.
Love the rosy Fleet Fast blush, finally no hint of coral.
Love the Red Racer lipstick, red lips and loads of mascara = summer minimalism.
Love Blessedly Rich and Rivera Life glosses...I have rediscovered lipgloss love this summer. There is something about a glossy lip that says summer especially when there is lovely pigmentation as opposed to just a sheer shine with the smallest hint of color.

Lip Love

I have come to the conclusion that I just love lipstick...

Watch Me Simmer-Chatterbox-Twig-Modesty

A little B2M and a purchase or two.

Deconstructing Dior

534-Rosy Nude 409-Tropical Light 390-Mystic Jade 009-Sky Glow
705- Beige Massai 844-Misty Mauve 804-Extase Pinks 004-Mystic Smokys

Lovely to use now. I am frustrated by endless packaging to open and close and this makes it so much easier to paint. I tried this first with my least loved quints, maybe I will even create a most loved palette as well.

Dior Diva 2012 - 500 Point Level

I had to send in my receipts for another charm bracelet. The bracelet is identical to the Sephora 500 point perk from over the holidays. The only difference is the one from Dior comes with Miss Dior Cherie.

I think I might do one more and create a necklace.
I really see no point in saving for the 1000 point level as it is boring and while the 2500 and 5000 levels are somewhat appealing spending that much in a year is beyond ridiculous. But maybe not if you buy skincare etc. Anyways the awesome 1000 point rewards are over for now.

The Spring Spree

Where I lost my mind, had utter disregard for the rules and am as pleased as punch.

Total lust for the new Dior Extreme Addict lipstick and much love for Bellissima although something about the formula gives you rather lush lips not that that is such a bad thing. Also New Look mascara is rather alright especially layered over the divine Dior lash primer. Throw in some GWP(I hope they continue offering additional charms) and it was a lovely beginning to a spree.

Back to Chanel for Regard Perle, I figured a year's longing was long enough, Also La Pausa lipstick, a lovely soft lip that just goes with the whole Chanel look. Also was coerced by R. as was told one must have some ladylike colors in one's collection* and he threw in some more discontinued brushes to make up for tough love.

Finally some MAC for some color (*may be cause of Chanel intervention)...
But so bright, so happy, and so very, very lovely.

Chanel Once More

I wanted to check out the new glossimers but R. said not till next week. So one thing led to another and I finally found a nice orangey lip (La Ravissante) that is not too coral then R. threw some more color on my cheeks via Bronze Corail from last summer (a regret) and I was smitten. Although I was lusting for the new summer bronzers with the yellow stripe, R. sneered and said you know they are going to be $10.00 more, they are not as cute, plus I know you will use this so much more. And here I will sweeten the pot since they are being discontinued and threw in his favorite blush brush P.'s favorite blush brush (angled) and an eyeshadow brush* to boot.
Ok

*am torn, as skeevy natural hair but so nice and soft...

Rules? A Spree or Two or Three...

The Budget Rule? Destroyed
The Satisfaction? Divine

J'Adore Dior....Just Sayin'

I had to have Royal Kaki, from the olive drab to the shimmering gold this palette is just so me.
The eternal quest for a bright pink lip led me to Caprice Pink and a much more refined Barbie lip.
I totally fell in love with the first pictures of Dior's Garden collection and could not wait to play. Rosy Glow blush is just so lovely and must be applied to the cheek to be truly appreciated. Hand swatches are very deceiving (much like lip color swatches on the hand) and  had I judged by my hand alone I would never have bought this lovely, lovely blush. Tulip Pink lipstick says spring, period and the Garden Pastel quint is absolutely glorious. When C. did my makeup she added the deep plummy color from the Stylish Move quint to the outer corners and it was so lovely. However it was not lovely enough to warrant a purchase for one single color. I thought it would be easy enough to find a similar color in my collection and I was wrong. I saw C. again and we both agreed that the closest color and a lovely palette indeed was at...

Chanel

Eclosion

Yummy and so very ladylike with Destinee on the lip and a rosy cheek.

The Rules of 2012

The few regrets from 2011's year of beauty were purged in The Great Toss Off of 2011. I can safely say that I adore my current stash. Nevertheless "Rules" are nice so here they are.

The Rules of 2012

First, I will try to stick with the following three brands...
Dior and Chanel for the majority of my purchases.
MAC for "fun".
I also am adding Lancome and the Buxom line onto the approved list but with very short leashes.

Second, I will continue my ban on drugstore items unless of course they are from the UK

Third, I will continue to try and fight the hype and frenzy certain brands and products reach.

Fourth, I will constantly edit my collection and create a stash that is both loved and used.

Fifth and Final, I will continue to find and use only what works...Not "force" products to do what they cannot do on their own.

Wildcard
Discover something new...explore a new line or try a new idea in skincare and enjoy another year of beauty.

So How Did That Work Out For You In 2011?

Well, umm pretty good? In the beginning of 2011 I set the following "rules" and created a budget for another year of beauty. As for the budget while I remained under for the year some months I blasted way past the allotted sum. The 5 rules had a mixed success, here they are....

First, I will try to stick with the following three brands... Dior and Chanel for the majority of my purchases.MAC for "fun".(Although I do adore my BE it just seems I am creating another ombre palette of colors, therefore I will place BE on injured reserve status)
Rule one was a breeze to follow and I will continue in 2012. I still love my BE foundation and the few colors I kept after The Great Toss Off are lovely however I have no desire to add anymore but of course I reserve the right to change my mind.

Second, I will continue my ban on drugstore items unless of course they are from the UK
Rule two was also a breeze if it makes me a snob, it makes me a snob and that is totally cool.

Third, will continue to try and fight the hype and frenzy certain brands and products reach.
Rule three?  Ugh...I love my Naked palette so and yeah will probably get Naked 2 as well as for other types of hype and frenzy I will try and put up up the good fight.

Fourth, the lipgloss/stick buying must be curtailed. While I would be devasted to see "pan" on any of my "powder" products, mainly because it would look really ugly I do need to use up my lip products before they go bad....So unless the color is just totally unique I am quite sure that I have something that will be virtually identical.
Rule four? Whatever...I like lipstick and lipgloss and if I don't buy variations on the same color I am cool with it.

Fifth and Final, I will continue to find and use only what works...Not "force" products to do what they cannot do on their own.
Rule five was a breeze as well. I will never understand the need to make something work...
cut your losses-toss it off-and move on.
